Local basketball, soccer standouts earn All-CIF honors

The CIF Southern Section released its All-CIF selections for boys and girls basketball and soccer Monday afternoon, and a number of local players were recognized for their great seasons.

Sierra Canyon girls basketball player Juju Watkins, a USC commit and McDonald’s All-American, was chosen the Open Division Player of the Year after leading the Trailblazers to the CIF-SS title in early March.

Wakins’ teammates Izela Arenas and Mackenly Randolph were also selected to the Open Division team. Coach Alicia Komaki was named the Coach of the Year.

On the boys side, Harvard-Westlake’s Brady Dunlap, Jacob Huggins and Trent Perry were named to the All-CIF Open Division team, along with Notre Dame’s Caleb Foster and Dusty Stromer. West Ranch’s Andrew Meadow also earned All-CIF honors in the Open Division.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Oakwood’s Ben Eisendrath was named co-Player of the Year in Division 3A. Valencia’s Mikah Ballew was named Player of the Year in Division 4AA

AGBU’s Avand Dorian and Agoura’s Nasir Meyer were named All-CIF in Division 2A. Paraclete’s Mister Burnside, Valley Torah’s Johny Dan and Noam Mayouhas were named All-CIF in Division 3A. Valencia’s Bryce Bedgood was named All-CIF in Division 4AA.

Valencia’s Bill Bedgood was named the Division 4AA Coach of the Year.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Oak Park’s Delany Gould and freshman Delaney White were named co-Player of the Year in Division 5A.

Harvard-Westlake’s Jamie Yue and Chaminade’s Hunter Hudson were named All-CIF in Division 1. Hart’s Laney Grider and Morgan Mack were named All-CIF in Division 2AA, along with Canyon’s Aliyah Garcia and Crescenta Valley’s Kylie Ray.

Campbell Hall’s Alline Ballard and Trinity Classical Academy’s Emma Schaaf were named All-CIF in Division 3A. Shalhevet’s Yalee Schwartz and Arielle Grossman were named All-CIF in Division 4AA. Oakwood’s Jamie Lac, Sophia Jones and Madelyn Geromini were named All-CIF in Division 4A.

Oak Park’s William Burr was named Coach of the Year in Division 5A.

BOYS SOCCER

Quartz Hill’s Damon Smith was named Player of the Year in Division 3 and St. Genevieves’ Gilberto Chavez was named the Player of the Year in Division 7.

Oak Park’s Zach Harris was the only area player selected to the All-CIF Division 1 team.

Agoura’s Justin Sosa and Matthew LeValley were selected to the All-CIF team in Division 2. Hart’s Trenton Rickard, along with Quartz Hill’s Sudney Middaugh, Damon Smith, Chisom Ene, Davien Karanikolas, Kaleb Stokes and Kwadwo Due were selected to the All-CIF Division 3 team.

Harvard-Westlake’s Theo Ottosson earned All-CIF Division 4 honors, along with Littlerock’s Anthony Contreras Rueda, Adrian Villafranco and Angel Montes De Oca. Chaminade’s Sam Hurst, Ryder Perdigao and Ryon Sayeri were named to the All-CIF Division 6 team.

St. Genevieve’s Gilberto Chavez, Alex Mazariegos and Nathan Melendez were named All-CIF in Division 7.

Quartz Hill’s Casey Jenison was named the Coach of the Year in Division 3, and St. Genevieve’s Jose Meija was named Coach of the Year in Division 7.

GIRLS SOCCER

Hart’s Briley Phelps was named the CIF-SS Division 2 Player of the Year, and Moorpark’s Gabriella Beauchemin was named the CIF-SS Division 3 Player of the Year.

Oaks Christian’s Berkley Mape and Sarah Spears were named All-CIF in Division 1.

Hart’s Alexis Nguyen, Macey Edemann and Ariana Salvador were named All-CIF in Division 2, along with Harvard-Westlake’s Victoria Pugh, Kaia Santamarco-King and Alexandra Astalos. Westlake’s KK Chowana and Calista Banihashemi earned All-CIF honors in Division 2, too.

Moorpark’s Emma Ott, Mirabella Bickham and Kaitlyn Beavers were named to the All-CIF team in Division 3.

The All-CIF Division 4 selections included Oak Park’s Ava Dermott and Viewpoint’s Madison Foxhoven. Louisville’s Miye Kodama and St. Genevieve’s Angelinne Mazariegos and Jocelyn Cornado were Division 5 All-CIF selections.
